Drawn to the Library: Alumni Authors Who Create In-Person
Loyola University Chicago Libraries is celebrating National Library Week from April 7 to 11. This year's theme for National Library Week from the American Library Association is 'Drawn to the Library.'
Join us for a special Alumni Author panel featuring talented Loyola alumni who are also accomplished artists and comic book creators living and working in Chicago. During this insightful discussion, they’ll share their personal journeys from student life to successful careers, exploring how their time at Loyola shaped their artistic paths. You’ll also get an exclusive look at their incredible work and learn about the creative process behind it!

About the Artists
Scott Larson (Bachelor of Arts, Fine Arts Major, 1997)
Scott Larson is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago and American Academy Of Art Chicago. In addition to his long career in advertising, Scott has worked in the comic book industry for over a decade. He has drawn comics for Capstone Press ( Marie Curie and Radioactivity), Markosia ( Kong: King Of Skull Island, Heretic ), AC Comics (Femforce), Moonstone Books (The Saint) Zenescope Entertainment (1000 Ways To Die, Hook), Bluewater Productions ( Victoria’s Secret Service), and others. He is currently writing and drawing his own self published comic book series called Visitations. Visitations is the history of Chicago as seen through the eyes of the residents of the city's oldest cemetery. In addition to this, Scott does historical Chicago talks as well as tours of Graceland Cemetery.
Andrew Pepoy (Bachelor of Arts, Fine Arts Major, 1991)
With over 35 years drawing and writing comics, Andrew Pepoy, a 1991 graduate of Loyola University, has worked for U.S., Canadian, British, and French publishers on hundreds of comics on such characters and titles as The Simpsons, Fables, Batman, The X-Men, Iron Man, Star Wars, Godzilla, Doctor Who, Red Sonja, Transformers, Wallace & Gromit, Scooby Doo, Archie, Betty & Veronica, Lanfeust, Uncle Scrooge, The Beatles' Yellow Submarine, MAD Magazine, Dick Tracy, and many more. In 2000, Andrew was asked to redesign Little Orphan Annie and drew the newspaper strip for the next year. In 2005 he brought his knack for retro glamour with a modern twist to writing and drawing a revival of Katy Keene, the classic Archie Comics character. Since 1990 he has written and drawn many stories of his own Harvey Award-nominated creation, The Adventures of Simone & Ajax, which has been collected in book form by IDW and is now published by Spicy Tomato Studios. Having been nominated several times, Andrew won an Eisner Award in 2009. He has also won an Inkwell Award and been nominated for the Harvey and Hugo Awards. He lives in Chicago.
Stephen Titra (Bachelor of Arts, Fine Arts Major, 1968)
Stephen Titra has commissioned portraits and landscapes that are displayed in public and private collections in Rome, Washington D.C., New York, Boston, Seattle, and Chicago, among other sites. He has illustrated a dozen books and created more than fifteen large-scale murals for school and public spaces throughout the Midwest. Titra has served as a multi-disciplinary artist-in-residence for the past 25 years at more than 100 sites, including most recently for Loyola University Chicago. His programs which include visual art, writing, and music are centered on creativity and spirituality and have been presented to students of all ages, faculties, and corporate groups. He received degrees and formal training from Loyola University Chicago, Mundelein College, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
